With a never-ending flow of spam on the Internet people are careful with every new message they receive. Some people immediately delete suspicious emails without opening them, others use anti-spam filters that block any email they consider as spam. It’s great if you already have a list of subscribers, to which you are sending newsletters at a regular basis. People know who you are and most likely have your email address in their address books or whitelists, so your email is let through with no problems.
But what about the first email campaign? How can you maximize the chances of getting a decent response from your first mailing?
The first email campaign often gets a low response rate. In some degree this is due to the product or service you are offering, or the design of the website. But a great part of it is in the message itself.
Follow these simple rules and your email campaign should be successful right from the beginning:
1) Don’t send from a forged or non existing email address. Use your valid email in the email From field. People can reply to your message so be sure the replies arrive to a real person.
2) Know what you want to achieve by your email before you sit down and write it. Do you want more visitors to your website? More sales for your products? More signups to your newsletter? Whatever aim you have, keep it in mind while writing your email.
3) Spell it right. There’s nothing worse than receiving a marketing email with poor spelling and grammar. Read and re-read your message a few times to discover and correct possible mistakes and typos.
4) Don’t write too long. Split the text into paragraphs. Keep the paragraphs short and punchy – you have very little time to grab people’s attention. Use simple words, short phrases and paragraphs consisting of just 1-3 short sentences.
5) Don’t use all capital letters! The text in all capitals is difficult to read and looks like you are shouting. Occasional use of capital letters to emphasize a word is ok, but be aware that some spam filters delete email messages with words all in capitals.
6) Call to action. In first two sentences of your email tell people who you are, and what you want them to do. Then you can use the rest of the email to expand on your products and services.
7) Deadline. Set a deadline for your offer by using phrases such as “First 100 to apply” or “The Offer Expires on December 25, 2006″ – fear of missing out on something always generates a good click through.
Send a text version of your message together with the HTML part. Don’t neglect the text version. Make sure it is composed well. It can be useful for those recipients who can read only text emails due to security reasons or email client configuration. If you compose your newsletter in G-Lock EasyMail, the program automatically creates a text version of the message and sends it together with the HTML part. You can also preview the text part before sending the message out and adjust it as you need.
9) Provide a way to unsubscribe. People must have a quick way to remove themselves from your mailing list. It may be an unsubscribe link somewhere at the bottom of your email. Don’t forget to exclude from your list those recipients who unsubscribed.
10) Always send a test message to yourself or your coworkers. The message can display differently after it is received by an email client. Make sure that everything is in place: images are shown, links are working, and text is formatted as it must be. Is everything looks fine, you are ready to send out to the world.

It’s a fact that most businesses – online or offline – fail in their first year. I’ve also seen that many online businesses start but never really get off the ground. They simply sputter along until the owner forgets to renew the website registration, but no one is the wiser.
Instead of letting your business get the best of you, take the bull by the horns and make the decision from day one to build your business for success! Expect success from your business and you will be more likely to succeed!
How do you expect success and build your business to succeed? Here are the steps you can take to make sure that you’re always in growth mode:
1. Identify obstacles. It’s naive to say “don’t let obstacles get in your way.” Frankly, obstacles will get in your way; that’s what makes them obstacles. It’s much more realistic to say, “don’t let obstacles stop you.” The best time to identify obstacles is proactively before they occur. This involves some brainstorming to determine what MIGHT spring up in the course of the next month or business quarter that could cause you problems. However, even if you wait until an obstacle presents itself, it’s not too late. You can still deal with it. When an obstacle presents itself, identify what it is. For example: If you’ve noticed that business is flagging, is it because the competition is truly offering better service? Or has their service remained the same and yours has gotten worse?
2. Brainstorm ways to solve them. The best success is creative success because it breaks out of the mold of “the way things have always been done.” When we decide to get creative, we’ll find new, fresh, and affordable ways to solve problems easily.
3. Seek help. Don’t be afraid to find people who are good at what needs to get done and ask them for help. If necessary, hire them or form partnerships that will lead to mutual benefit. Business is stronger when we have allies to help us.
4. Create a Marketing Plan. Don’t just blindly wade into business. Create an outline or action plan with a step by step approach to point you to tasks you need to do.
How to Create a Marketing Plan:
Many businesses start out with a really strong business plan. If you’ve started your business with one, then you should be congratulated. A solid business plan is a great foundation to helping your business increase its chances of success.
But now what? Perhaps it’s been a few months or a year. Periodically you may check to see how your business plan is doing, and over all you may be doing okay.
I’d like to recommend to you that you also commit to a regular marketing plan. Marketing should be the primary task of any online business owner in the early years of the business. And a marketing plan will help you do just that. Most people find that marketing plans are a little more fun to do because they’re less formal than a business plan and you can do it on the back of an envelope if you want. Ask yourself:
Income questions:
* What are your income goals for the year?
* What are your income goals for the month?
* What are your income goals for the day?
Customer questions:
* What customers do you have?
* What customers do you want to keep?
* Will those customers help you achieve your goal?
* What is your shortfall?
* What is it about those customers that you like?
* What customers do you want to get rid of ?
* What is it about those customers that you don’t like?
* How many customers do you need?
* Where will you find those customers?
* Where will you find customers like the ones you like?
* How can you avoid customers that you don’t like to deal with?
* Where do your favorite customers hang out?
* Is there a way you can got your favorite customers talking about you?
Marketing questions:
* How are you going to market your services this year?
* What worked?
* What didn’t work?
* What is your competition doing this year?
Once you’ve looked at your income, customers, and marketing, you can begin to creatively develop a few ideas that will help you market for the coming year. I like to consider this marketing plan a little “check-up” to help keep on the path to success.
5. Don’t forget to implement your plan. Make sure that you’re actually doing what you said you would do in order to make your business a success.

When it comes to internet marketing, the idea is simple; use the internet to market whatever you need to get across. Through advertising and other promotions, you can boost name recognition, visits, and customers. For help visit www.secretly-spy-your-internet-competition.com. The internet is a beacon where millions and millions of people from around the world can come together to communicate. This is a resource that has gone somewhat untapped for a long time; many companies and businesses are just now beginning to realize the potential of the internet and internet marketing.
What makes the internet special is the fact that it is a medium that can be update in real time. This allows you to reach out to millions of people instantly. The only problem that existed, however, was the issue of trying to find all of these people. While there were millions of people on the internet, there was no major place for them to go. The advent of social networking sites has solved that problem. What is it about social networking sites that you need to consider when looking to get into internet marketing?
When looking into social networks for internet marketing, you need to be aware of the massive amount of people on the actual site itself. While this can be an incredible asset, it can be a big problem; you can effectively reach your target, but can also get lost and waste your resources with a miss-step. Trying to reach too many people at once can be an issue, so making sure you do not get caught up in the number of people on the site will help you to have a successful internet marketing campaign.
If you are looking to do internet marketing with a social networking site, be sure to utilize the connectivity to your advantage. People can connect easily; managing to connect your business, product, or service with these people can cause instant connectivity with a large amount of people.
The promotional ability that is available with social networking websites can be a great way to have a strong internet Marketing Campaign. Becoming a part of that social networking site is the best way to have an in with your exact target market. While this requires a lot of thought, planning, and cooperation, it can be a great way to boost your marketing campaign.
The sheer size of people on social networking sites is enough to make it an obvious target for internet marketing. For help visit www.achieving-liftoffs.com. The social networking site is one of the best ways to segment your market to reach exactly who you want to reach; it is one of the most effective and efficient ways to reach your target market. If you consider all of the aspects of social networking sites, you can understand exactly why it is a tool for internet marketing.

In dentistry as with any other profession is it important that you know what your clients think of you and why they came to you. You need this information so that you can devise a Marketing Campaign to bring in more patients like those that patron you often already. You can’t just assume that you know what they think. Because you have been in business 20 years you may have some idea; this is true. But you would be surprised at the number of dentists who think they know their patients so well only to find out after surveying them that they did not actually know the specific reason they acquired most of them in the first place.
What you’re after are the buttons to push to get someone in to your practice for service. If you’ve already decided you know it all about your patients and you have nothing to learn then you don’t need to read this and your promotions must be bringing in hoards of new patients daily.
An important thing to realize is that people have different ideas or perceptions about what they observe. Several people can look at the same thing, but each one can see something different. For example, while you may be concentrating on having the best customer service in the universe, your patients may see only that you have a very clean office. You know that having a clean office is part of providing the best customer service and there is much more that you do in your office to ensure customer service is at an all-time high. But your patients may only notice that you have a really clean office. They don’t “see” customer service – they “see” a super clean office and this may be the item that makes them feel really good about going to you as their dentist. They may think, “If he cares enough about his office to have it so clean, then his quality of dentistry must be high.”
So in your marketing, communicating that you have the ‘best customer service’ might not do the trick. The bottom line is you have to ASK.
Now, of course you want to keep your staff on top of providing the best customer service (as that is what you are doing to ensure cleanliness and above average dental care). But in your promotional materials, promoting how clean your office is will get better results – if you surveyed and that’s what the majority of your patients said. It’s just an example but I hope you get the point.
The point is you have to survey. An incredible marketer and executive that really had the tech of surveys down was a man named L. Ron Hubbard. He discovered that surveys save you from flying blind in your business marketing strategies and are the best way to find out what you should be offering, to whom and how. In fact, he developed an entire survey technology on how to learn what people’s emotional responses were that caused them to act.
When you don’t really know what to put in your direct mail marketing it’s because you haven’t done your research. You use surveys in order to get a response to your direct mail marketing campaign. You want people to act in response to your promotion.
Surveying can be simple – as simple as looking through your invoices to see what you sell the most of. Then you can ask those patients who come in for that service, what they liked about having that service. Or you could see where most of those patients come from and then market that service to that general zip code or area. Get the majority response and you have more data than when you started.
Here is another example of what a dentist did in Texas who used survey results to attract patients to his practice. First there was an assumption: what people feared the most about going to the dentist was having a needle inserted into their cheek and a cavity removed from their tooth. However, surprisingly it was not the actual dental procedure that most often terrified the patients.
According to the surveys, the site of a needle and the sound of the drill were the two most feared elements of dentistry. Now he promotes that he does “painless injections”. And when you see what his painless injections consist of, it is just the way he performs the injection along with a very sharp, very small needle. But he used surveys to hit the right button and then he educated his prospects about his procedures. (Taken from http://www.qualitydentistry.com/dental/information/painless.html)
See? You could fly blind without surveys. Surveys will help you hit the mark. You may be close, but within inches of the gold mine. Your local Dental Association has market research that you can use as well as the American Dental Association.
It is smart business to design a survey (or have one designed) to send out to your past customers that will keep constantly informed on what they think and feel regarding your practice.
Basically you have a fraction of a second to get someone’s attention with your mail piece. The design and message will better communicate to the majority receiving it if something on your card instantly moves them to respond or react – rather then barely noticing it and tossing it in the trash. That’s the reality.
Surveying can eliminate costly campaigns that deliver less return on investment. Learn from those who have learned the hard way or as the Fijian Proverb goes, “Listen to the wisdom of the toothless ones.”

People start home based businesses every day. Some are e-businesses,some are not. Some people have amazing success and make lots of money. They live the good life, buying large houses and expensive cars, retiring early. Traveling the world. You know what I’m talking about – because it’s your dream for your home based business too. But most people (96%) fail, making no money at all, or making just enough to live on.
So why DO most home based businesses fail? What’s the missing component? Really, there are two.
#1 You Must Sell Big Ticket Items.
It will cost you – in time and/or money – to bring qualified prospects to your website. Then after they arrive, you must convert them into cash-paying customers (which means that your website must be compelling enough to make them want to buy what you have to offer). Now here’s the point: it will cost you the same investment in time and money to develop an effective website and drive traffic to it,whether a sale will earn you $20, $200, or $1,000.
Let’s say your goal for your home based business is an income of $5,000 per month. If you have a widget that sells for $20 and earns you $10 per sale, you must make 500 sales per month. If your website has a 5% conversion rate (converting visitors to buyers), you must average 10,000 qualified hits per month to your website in order to earn $5,000. A task that is not impossible, but it IS certainly quite daunting. But now let’s say you’re selling an item that sells for $1,000 and earns you $500 per sale. This means you only need to make ten sales per month! With the same 5% conversion rate, you will only need to drive two hundred qualified hits to your website! And if you did attain the 10,000 hits in the previous example, you would earn $250,000 per month! You can make money with an inexpensive item, but it’s MUCH easier to make BIG money with a big ticket item.
But isn’t it much harder to make a $1,000 sale than it is to make a $20 sale? No, not at all – IF you have a relevant product, you know how to market effectively, AND you are marketing to the correct demographic. You must develop a SYSTEM to identify relevant products, market them effectively, and reach the right demographic. Which leads us to the next missing ingredient.
#2 You must have a proven SYSTEM to market effectively.
Let’s say you find an item that you like, one that you think will sell well. You check out the company and it seems legitimate; it has the right “feel.” You discover that they even give you some marketing tools: a website, business cards, sample newspaper ads, and banner ads for internet marketing. But the amount of guidance that they give you about how to USE these tools is limited, or non-existent. So you place some newspaper ads. You hand out as many business cards as you can. Maybe put a few banner ads out there on the internet and hope for the best. You get a few hits to the website, but if people don’t buy the first time, they’re gone – forever. You try diligently for awhile, and you may even make a few sales. But in the final analysis, you discover that you barley
make enough money to cover the cost of the advertising that you did.
Have you ever been there? I have!
Then I discovered that, although they provided me with some marketing tools, they were not cutting edge tools, and I didn’t have a PROVEN SYSTEM to implement an effective campaign. A campaign is not just marketing, it is the entire PROCESS of turning suspects into prospects, then turning prospects into customers. It cannot be willy-nilly, seat-of-your-pants, what-should-I do-today type of marketing. It must be an ORGANIZED and AUTOMATED system that takes every one of your prospects through the same pre-planned marketing steps – every time.
What’s really necessary to design an effective campaign?
* Product – You must have a product that really sells, not just one that you like. And, as discussed earlier, it should be a big ticket item if you want to make any BIG money.
* Marketing – You must have MANY ways to market, ie. Google adswords, ezine articles (write for others or start your own ezine), blogging, direct mailing post cards, press releases, email lists (when someone comes to your website, you should collect their email address so that you can follow up with them. Most of your sales come from the follow up.) Some of these methods cost money, some are free and will only cost you the time to set them up. But you must use all of them. Notice that I did NOT say “make a list of your friends,” or “pass out business cards.” Those things might make some sales, but in order to be really successful, you must reach the MASSES.
And the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of marketing; you must track and test your ads – every one of them – all the time. You must know exactly how much each ad cost you, and how many sales came from THAT ad. This will help you keep attuned to what is really happening with your advertising dollars. Delete the ones that do not bring the best RESULTS, and then test different ones, always looking for the most cost effective ways to drive traffic to your website.
* Website – First of all, your website must be written in such a way that it COMPELS your visitors to buy. (Most affiliate websites do not do this.) If it doesn’t have a high conversion rate, then everything else you’re doing is wasted effort. Next, it should collect the email addresses of your visitors so that you can follow up with them. Then, if you’re selling an expensive item, you should have a low-cost ($49?) front end product to sell first. This could be anything, but one thing that works well is an information product that will teach them how to do something, or do it better, or do it faster. It will be even more profitable if your front-end product is somehow related to your back-end big ticket product (though this is not essential). The entire website should be aimed at getting them to buy the inexpensive front-end product. Don’t even mention your other, expensive product. After they buy the front end product, you send them a weekly or monthly ezine or e-newsletter. Or better yet, send them a series of personal emails (totally automated, of course) full of more useful details about the front-end product that they just bought. You are now building relationship. Once they trust and respect you, selling them your back-end big ticket item (through your follow up emails) is almost a forgone conclusion. This is how $1,000(or $3,000) products are sold.
*Automation – The final step. Once you have the system set up, the only “work” you should be doing is to continue to improve your advertising. This will only take you a couple hours per week, at most. Once people respond to your advertising and go to your site, the entire process from that point on should be TOTALLY AUTOMATED. Collecting emails of visitors to send them a “free report”,following that up with sending them a series of emails to sell your front-end product, collecting payment for your front-end product, delivering your front-end product, sending additional follow-up emails, making the back-end big ticket sale (with your follow-up emails), delivering the back-end product… everything should be fully automated. That way, you can spend your time doing what YOU want instead of talking to prospective customers and fulfilling product orders.
Conclusion
This is the basic process to making huge sums of money online with your home based business. All of this may seem daunting. Can you do all of this yourself? Can you design a SYSTEM that will do all of this automatically? Sure you can. Anyone can. But it takes much more time, effort, and money than most people are ready or willing to invest – and that’s why so many home based businesses fail. But if you go for it, designing a system that incorporates all of these elements, you will see a significant improvement in your sales, and your bottom line! Maybe even enough that you can begin to live the good life – you know, the life that you’ve always dreamed about.

For their websites to get noticed, businesses employ a number of marketing strategies that can help them get more people to visit their websites amidst the very competitive environment on the Internet.
However, employing some marketing strategies may not be enough. There is a need for businesses to go a step further in applying a more comprehensive set of marketing activities, which can be lumped into one effective Internet marketing strategy plan. This is because using such plans provides companies with a focused way to define their potential markets, position themselves, and increase their sales.
Things to Consider in Formulating Internet Marketing Plans
Internet marketing plans should be able to define the goals of the businesses and to set the objectives that can help them achieve these goals. For these plans to be effective, they must contain certain elements that businesses need to consider. One of the first things to consider is defining a business’s target market and to come up with strategies that are designed to serve this target market. This can include custom-fitting a website to the tastes, desires, and pleasures of a specific market. Doing so has the potential of building customer loyalty, which will keep customers coming back to a website.
Businesses also need to distinguish themselves from their competitors, especially on the Internet. This is why there is a need for marketing plans to include strategies that can give a website an edge over competitor websites. Providing additional services such as gift wrapping services can achieve this. In addition to this, businesses can also link up with other websites with products that are related to their products so that they can maximize their exposure as compared to their competitors.
Another important element that businesses need to consider is the convenience by which users can purchase products from their websites. Equipping a website with tools such as shopping carts and credit card payment processing make it easy to purchase products and build customer loyalty because of the unique customer experience they get in buying from a website.
To be able to effectively compete with other businesses that advertise online, businesses need to employ a comprehensive set of marketing strategies that make up an Internet marketing strategy plan. These plans enable businesses to take the appropriate steps to help them get maximum exposure and to help them provide the best services to their markets to generate more business and to build customer loyalty.

Let me first say that Google Adwords (Google pay per click), when done correctly, will give you the best return on your money compared to other online advertising options. At the same time, if you don’t know how Google evaluates your campaign, it could cost you a fortune.
Let’s first examine how Google is different from other search vehicles. Most search engines base the placement of your ad on how much you pay per click, i.e., the one who pays the most for a specific keyword will be positioned in the #1 spot.
Not so with Google. In an attempt to deliver more relevant content to its readers, Google uses several parameters to determine the order in which it serves up its ads. Not knowing or ignoring these parameters can cost you big! And unless your enterprise has very deep pockets, it can even mean the difference between success and failure.
When doing a pay per click campaign on Google, your ad position will be based on keyword selection, ad relevance to keywords, bid price, average click rate, how long visitors stay on your site, and even the match of your landing page to your ad and keyword. Essentially, you could be paying the most per click and be listed in the 5 position! Or vise versa, you could be paying less than the top 5 bidders and be in the #1 spot!
When setting up your Google Adwords (pay per click) campaign, all these elements will affect your position in the ranking, so make sure that:
• Your keywords are not too broad
• Your ad relates to your keywords (keyword grouping is important)
• Your bid price is at least competitive
• Your click rate is good (above 1-3% is great, below 0.5% is a killer)
• Keywords you choose match the content on your landing page
• You use text instead of Flash. This is very important…using Flash landing pages without text will affect your ad position in a negative way (Google perceives pages with no information the same as pages with non relevant information).
The more you adhere to these parameters, the lower your cost per click and the better your conversions will be. I appreciate Google’s well thought out ranking policies. When searching online for info, I hate nothing more than clicking on an ad that sends me to a page that has little or nothing to do with what I am researching. If I don’t see relevant information within a few seconds, I’m gone, and irritated about the waste of time!
