When marketing your product or service, you need to have a firm understanding of your audience, the message you want to deliver, the offer you’re willing to make, and the optimal timing for your Marketing Campaign.
Too often novice marketers, even marketing veterans, make costly mistakes that result in poor performance of their marketing campaign. Common marketing mistakes can be avoided with adequate planning, attention to detail, and ongoing measurement and evaluation.
If you’re considering a traditional marketing campaign, an Internet marketing campaign, or something that’s never been tried before, be sure to avoid these common marketing mistakes.
1. Timing. You may have a great list, a fantastic offer, and even a well designed marketing piece, but if your timing is off, so too will be your results. As an experienced marketer, I have seen some very expensive marketing campaigns that were very compelling but failed to produce results. This is because the campaign reached consumers at a time in which they had no interest in buying the product. For example, trying to sell snow shovels in July would not be considered good timing.
2. Failure to Test Your Headline. As the first thing your prospect usually reads, the headline is essential for luring your prospective buyer into the message, your offer, and the action you want them to take. Regardless of the medium, you should continually test your headlines (or subject lines) by running split tests and evaluating response. This ensures that your marketing message attracts the largest number of prospective buyers.
3. Failure to Test Your Offer. In direct marketing, the offer is directly correlated to 40% of your response. If you have the right offer, people respond. There are other factors to consider as well, but providing a compelling offer is required in most instances. Offers can range from discounts to “hurry while supplies last”, but the commonality remains. Test your offers for optimizing response.
4. Having a Good List. Having the best offer and award-winning design is not enough. For many types of marketing campaigns, success is directly tied to having a targeted list. With today’s sophisticated list generation tools, you can acquire lists that are highly segmented based on demographics, psychographics, buying behavior, and many other characteristics.
The key here is not to be penny wise and pound foolish. If you’re wondering where to invest your marketing dollars, spend them on developing a good house list (names you acquire on your own) or by renting/purchasing a well segmented marketing list.
5. Relying on a Single Communication. On average, consumers are hit with over 2,000 marketing messages everyday. In fact, recent studies have indicated that consumers need to see your marketing message an average of 12 times before they take notice. If there is any truth to the claim in part or in whole, it means that you must communicate to prospects on a regular basis. Placing a single ad in the newspaper or sending a single email cannot deliver effective results. Determine the media that prospects use to gather information and develop an ongoing campaign that works within your budget.
6. Not Measuring Campaign Effectiveness. Over time, your business is going to do a lot of marketing. Even if you are a small business wondering how you’re going to communicate to a prospective audience, you’re going to eventually have some type of communication. Regardless of the marketing campaign size or expense, you need to track your results. This can be done with a simple spreadsheet or a multi-million dollar CRM system. The bottom line is you need to record what works and what doesn’t so that you can improve your results in the future.
7. Failure to Continue the Dialog. After consulting for a number of large companies, I’m still amazed at how many fail to communicate to customers on an ongoing basis. Often times, consumers or businesses only hear from the seller when its time to buy again. If you have an established customer base, chances are you’ve worked hard to acquire them. You should be spending some of your marketing budget to retain them. Be sure to open a dialog with customers, solicit their feedback, and communicate with them regularly. This will help to build your business over the long-term.
If you’re new to marketing, have experience as a marketing professional, or simply want to improve your current marketing results, be sure to learn from the mistakes of others. To be successful, continually work towards improving your marketing effectiveness. Avoid the 7 most common marketing mistakes, and you’re on your way to delivering tangible results.

You could do a then and now compaign, showing women from 50 years ago using the cosmetics and then people today using the cosmetics. You know "making women beautiful for 50 years now". Or you could try and find the same women that were used 50 years ago and show them then and then now. Stuff like that. I hope that helps. GOOD LUCK!

After all, the Internet exists primarily as a source and medium whereby Information and content is exchanged. As webmasters, they create valuable one-way links from relevant content they publish, and also builds the overall size of your web site thereby increasing page rank. As well as the above, it improves search results pertaining to relevant keywords all the while providing useful information to the web search consumer.
By building your overall web site promotional strategy around quality content based Internet marketing using blogs, press release distribution, e-mail marketing, article directory submission, and e-zines you are creating a network of links back to your site and branding your self and business as an expert in your industry.
We are not going to bore you with details but only the basics of what you need to do to effectively promote your site on the Internet to maximum your results. The following three strategies should be the staple of any Internet marketing campaign and produce results.
This is not to say that you should not incorporate over forms of web site promotion. The most successful web sites use a variety of Internet marketing strategies including content based internet marketing and paid advertising such as pay per click.
Blogging
When clients ask what about our recommendations for internet marketing and web site promotion our first response is always with regard to blogging. While a well-rounded Internet Marketing Campaign is best, to optimize success there are few methods more effective in the long term for improving search engine ranking and page rank than blogging.
Internet marketers who utilize Content Based Internet Marketing strategies and who publish fresh content to their blogs daily, see very positive results in terms of keyword ranking, page rank and overall incoming traffic through their blogs. This is because the search engines love blogs.
A blog is the perfect content management solution. It allows you to publish fresh articles with ease on a regular basis. By posting a new optimized article daily for a different keyword or keyword phrase clients will eventually have hundreds of content rich pages optimized for all of the possible keyword combinations related to their industry.
We recommend that you publish one article to your blog daily every single day of the year. This is very important because consistency is the most important thing. The search engines send out there spiders on a regular basis and once they see that you publish new content to your site daily they will start visiting your site more often indexing your new pages more often. These means your new articles pages will rise to the top of the search engines that much more quickly.
If you do not have a blog you can visit blogger.com or Wordpress for information on installing a free blog on your web site. In order for your blog to effectively bring traffic to your site it needs to be hosted on your server and not on a separate web host. A blog hosted at blogspot or another hosting service will not be nearly as effective in bringing you targeted traffic or increasing your search engine rankings.
Article Directory Submission
We recommend that you submit original articles every month to various article directories with links back to your site. If you want these articles to have the most impact on increasing your page rank the article directories you submit to should have a Google page rank of 4 or better.
If you are not sure what their page rank is you can download Google’s tool bar which attaches to your browser and will provide all of these information and more. The Google toolbar is a must for any serious Internet marketer. You can download the toolbar free from the Google website.
Press Release Distribution
Another component of an effective content based Internet marketing campaign is press release distribution. Distributing press releases on a regular basis through newswire distribution services will create both immediate traffic and inbound links back to your site as the press releases are picked up and posted on web sites.
An example of a good press release distribution service is PRWeb.com. PR Web will distribute your press release for free but you can receive enhanced distribution for additional fees. For example, for a payment of $80.00 you can be guaranteed to be included in Yahoo News. We have been very successful in using press release distribution in marketing our client’s web sites.
It is important that your press release read like a news story and cover newsworthy information. Press releases that sound like advertisements are not likely to be accepted by PR Web.
Before following the advice of any Internet marketing guru or web site promotion expert I recommend that you evaluate the results achieved by the service or expert.
Does he or she have a high traffic web site?
Do they have a page rank of 4 or better?
What is their Alexa.com traffic ranking? Remember that ratings over 100,000 are probably not that accurate according to Alexa.com. Any site with a rating under 100,000 is probably fairly accurate and getting a decent amount of traffic.
How many back links are being recognized by the big three search engines. (Google, Yahoo and MSN)
If a so-called web site promotion expert does not have a successful web site and is not doing those things they are teaching, then how can you know that the strategies are effective.
The other part of the equation is that some of the Internet marketing tactics taught on the web are effective for producing traffic quickly but not for the long term.
They are often tricks or short cuts that have the appearance of being effective but do not generate long term qualified or targeted traffic and more importantly sales. These are the things to consider when evaluating any claims by Internet marketing experts or gurus.

1. Make an irresistible offerEvaluate your offer from the customer’s point of view. Your prospects want to feel like they are getting their money’s worth and more. Make them feel rewarded for taking you up on your offer. Offer an incentive, for example, “FREE” or “50% OFF.”
2. Use deadlines for immediate responsesSet a deadline on your offer to motivate the prospect to act immediately, whether you want them to call, visit your website or any other action. For example say, “This offer expires in 10 days. Call now!”
3. Less IS moreGrab your prospect or customers attention with one image or photograph that is in some way related to or represents your company. It will grab their attention, but will not distract them from looking at the important stuff – your offer. When writing your text, remember you only have a few seconds to catch your prospects attention. Keep your message brief; don’t try to explain all the details. Give them just enough information to entice them to act. Eliminate unnecessary words. Use shorter words versus longer words.
4. Call recipients to actionDon’t make the reader work hard to figure out what they are supposed to do. Have all your contact information displayed prominently. Make sure you reader knows what to do to take advantage of your offer. For example, “Order now! Call us at 1.877.627.9636” – and make it bold.
5. Proof and proof againWe know it is exciting to create marketing materials. We still get excited when we print up our own. Don’t let your enthusiasm rush you. Before approving your postcard’s design, make sure you check your text for misspelled words, inconsistencies or grammatical errors. Print a hard copy and have a few people read through it. Once you’ve read it once or twice, you may start reading from memory and miss errors. Remember one spelling error may not seem like a big deal to you; you know that you know how to spell, but your prospective customer won’t.
6. Follow upLet’s face it we are all very busy. Your customers may not remember you three or four months down the line, unless you remind them. You can send postcards to individual customers monthly for less than $3.00 per year. Send monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly reminders, thank you postcards, coupons and more to keep referrals and repeat business coming your way.
7. Change the postcard’s sizeCatch prospects and customers off guard with different sizes. For just pennies you can use a jumbo postcard to stand out from the rest of the postcards they get in their mail. Instead of a 4”x6” send a 5”x7”, 6”x8” or 6”x11” postcard. If you use a mailing service the postage stays the same; you only pay the extra printing costs (and it looks more professional since the recipients names and addresses are printed directly on the card instead of labels.)

A printed poster serves a great deal for your Marketing Campaigns. You only have to remember to trust the right printing company to create the material for you. This way, you will be able to have something that your target market will love seeing.
Craving for Attention
When used to promote your business, a printed poster, just like any other material that you use to advertise, aims to get the attention of the people whom you are trying to please. There are many ways that you can achieve this in this regard. Here are only some of the tricks that you can apply on your material if you are only starting out to try such venture.
1. Create a theme. Your poster can follow whatever theme you may have applied on your other tools such as postcards, brochures, catalogs and the likes. If you have availed the broadcast services, you can also make your posters look like or carry out a feel similar to what has been aired.
This will result to instant recognition. People are going to determine the connection between the different ads. Make sure that you utilize the important elements of your company on the ads that you wish to create. Stamp your logo on all your tools. On the printed forms, use similar fonts, colors and images related to the campaign.
2. Hire the services of a professional to render design and writing services for you. Even if you are only starting, it will be better if you are going to use all the right elements which are the expertise of these people. They know what they are doing. With your vision and ideas guiding them as to what you want to be done, they can apply all those to render that kind of services that you expect from them.
3. Position your material in vital places. What does this mean? Your printed poster must be seen by the people who will be interested with whatever it is offering. They must see it on places they frequent, may it be somewhere they least expect to think about the offer or when they are already at the venue where they can avail such.
Think about the following sites when you are planning as to where to place your posters. You must make sure that your materials are visible to your target market. This way, many people are going to be informed about your promotions. This will help you succeed on the types of campaigns that you are running.
• Outdoors. Your posters can be placed on higher locations. But this can be possible if your material is large enough to be seen at such height and distance. Make sure that the design is suitable for such condition. If you only have a medium-sized one, it will be better if you are going to place them at an eye-level.
• Indoors. You can use your posters to influence the purchasing decision of your clients once they are inside your store. You have to make sure that the offers that can be seen on the material look tempting and sound really good that people are really going to think hard before ignoring what they have read.
• Handouts. You can also use a printed poster as a giveaway to your patrons. Make sure that the material is worth keeping so that these people will not easily disregard your tool.

I bet they’re trying to wipe us out! Isn’t it obvious? All of a sudden they start trying to appeal to the black community with commercial featuring all blacks and even a website called 365black.com. They are trying to wipe us out by using fast food to lure us in so we can all develop heart disease and eventually keel over! They now African Americans have a high rate of heart problems! Why are they trying to sell us there greasy fattening food? It’s conspiracy, I tell you! They are trying to get rid of us!
if they were trying to wipe you out they’d break into fried chicken, they’d catch more black people that way (is it a stereotype if it’s true?)
besides, if that’s their plan to kill you off you’re going to outlast us white folks

I should hope that the headline caught your attention because…
…anyone who has been online for a while, either as an affiliate or a vendor, knows that Viral Marketing, particularly using mini ebooks, is one of the EASIEST ways to automatically get an UNLIMITED amount of targeted traffic which, in turn, exponentially EXPLODES your profits at the same time.
(If you want to learn know more about viral marketing, just do a search for it on Google.)
But there is a WRONG way to do this. And if you’re not careful, all your viral marketing efforts will be for nothing. Make the following mistakes when creating your mini ebook, and you’ll be sure to fail and not see any results:
1. Never Include Personal Information You Do Not Want All Over The World.
Because of the nature of viral marketing, it will eventually spread everywhere in the world. So if you include your phone number, address, or email, be prepared to have your phone ringing off the hook 24/7, be prepared to have your mailbox full of unwanted mail, and be prepared to have your email full of SPAM and questions. Take it from me, you do not want this.
2. Never Directly Link to An Affiliate Product
You should invest in your own web hosting space for this reason: you always want to redirect affiliate links on your server instead of directly linking to your affiliate programs. Once an affiliate program you’re promoting changes it’s links or they go out of business, there’s absolutely nothing you can do. You’re commissions will just end. If this happens, simply change the redirect links to where you need them to go.
3. Don’t Be Specific
Do not talk about limited time discount offers or “just released” products no one has yet because by the time your mini ebook gets to someone a year, two years from now, the information is going to be dated and you will only end up disappointing a potential customer.
And last but not least…
4. Launch a New Window for External Links
When linking to external link in your ebook, always set the link to open in a new window/browser. Many sales processes use javascript that can cause a compatibility problem if launched within your ebook. If a customer was ready to buy something from your link, it would greatly upset them to have it not work, and you just lost a commission because you forgot to set up this option.
I hope everyone enjoyed reading this. For more information about how to make money online, read the Authors Bio. Box.
